Niagara River Ramsar Designation
On Thursday, October 3, 2019, a ceremony was held designating the Niagara River Corridor as a under the Ramsar Convention. Ramsar is a global treaty supporting the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands and related waters. It is also known as the Convention on Wetlands. It is named after the city of Ramsar in Iran, where the Convention was signed in 1971.
